Hello everyone,

I am making micro-nutrients for our new stock plate media using the recipe/instructions (please see the attached photo) for AM fungi. I believe the name is M-medium (Bécard and Fortin, 1988).

One micro-nutrient is manganese sulfate tetrahydrate (MnSO4 * 4H2O); however, we and everyone else in the university only have manganese sulfate monohydrate (MnSO4 * H2O). Therefore, can we substitute MnSO4 * 4H2O for  MnSO4 * H2O, or should this be avoided?

I hypnotize that since we are putting it into the water, the MnSO4 * H2O will just separate into their respective ions, or at worst, any remaining MnSO4 * H2O will quickly become hydrated to MnSO4 * 4H2O.

But what do you all think?

Thanks
