In 2D elasticity having axisymmetry condition we employ Airy's stress function (phi) in polar coordinate system. Here phi becomes a function only of radial distance (r). Integrating the subsequent bi harmonic equation with respect to ''r'' we obtain an expression for phi which contains terms like '''logr'. Clearly ''r'' is not non dimensional.

Can anyone please help me understand this fallacy

For reference one can kindly refer to ch-4, 2D problems in polar coordinates ,article 28,Theory of Elasticity (3rd Edition);Timoshenko ,Goodier
