I am having a discussion with some lab colleagues who intend to dip the phmeter head in cosmetic cream, oils, and balms with oil and beeswax. I tell them that they will clog the semi-permeable membrane and destroy the pH meter, and I urge them to dilute 1 gram of cream in 20 mL of distilled water, and measure that dilution, and they claim that their way of doing it is the way it is done elsewhere.

Who is right?
