You can upload your sequence for ID into Boldv4 (http://v4.boldsystems.org) there is an option for a tree based ID. If your sequence resides among the other Rhopalomyia spp than you can conclude that it possibly belongs to this genus.

I dont think with 85 % similarity you could able to reach at concluding answer.

I think here we should not confuse the BLAST sequence identity percentage and similarity/genetic distances used in barcoding. They have completely different purposes and computation behind. Therefore I recommended uploading the barcode to the ID service of BOLD and look at the tree based visualisation as well. Of course its purpose is species identification, but for orientation to see what sequences are most close to the queried one is enough.

Thank you for your reply. Based on a taxon tree, only thing I know is it belongs to family Cecidomyiidae. Too bad I can't identify on a genus level.

Yes, this is what I expected. Might be its genus has got no barcodes in Bold yet.

Well, It was concluded that it is actually species called' Asynapta groverae Jiang et Bu, 2004 '. Newly recorded species in my country, but found before in China and India. So bad that there's any barcodes in Bold yet.

Yes, rare species data are rare in BOLD as well. Especially if they come from remote areas. However, it is good that BOLD was OK in family ID.

I am having the same question about my fly species GenBank similarity which was maximum 96%. Is this enough?
