Specific management techniques are needed for thrips; harmless substitutes such as insecticidal soaps and oils, as well as somewhat toxic but effective thrip-fighting alternatives like spinosad and abamectin, are recommended. In integrated pest management (IPM), biological controls, such as predatory insects (Orius spp., Amblyseius spp.), are crucial because they combine chemical treatments with biological and cultural methods to minimize resistance and sustainably control thrip populations.
