In all new energy generation methods such as solar PV, wind generation, geothermal and tidal energy production, a big quantity of new and expensive materials, labor, land area are utilized. There are also difficulties with recycling etc.
Energy generation increase continiously dur to community increases needs. Energy efficient consumption also requires more resources, but cat heat wastes, that keep environment better that extended consumption of energy!
Efficient energy use is certainly the most effective way to reduce our energy bills. Further, I want to give here just one example of how efficient energy use can be one of the most effective ways to combat global warming. By increasing energy efficiency through simple measures such as weatherizing homes to reduce electricity consumption, we can avoid the need for new polluting power plants. This is perhaps the simplest and most effective way to combat global warming by using available technologies that do the same amount of work but use less energy.
I certainly do agree that efficient energy use is the most effective way to protect the environment. It has the added advantage of also saving us money!
I do agree with both of you. Here is the excellent example of such practice!
Making Water Service Energy-Neutral!
"“The energy neutrality concept is a lot more than optimizing a wastewater facility,” Warming said. “It’s about being a lot more intelligent about what you do from an energy point of view.”
Typically, water and wastewater treatment processes account for 25-40 percent of a local municipality’s electricity consumption. With energy reduction in water production, water distribution, wastewater pumping and wastewater treatment, combined with increased energy production from the wastewater treatment process, water service companies can achieve energy neutrality.
By introducing AC drives into water production, for example, water service companies have been able to achieve 20-45 percent energy reduction, Warming said. With optimized pressure management, water distribution has seen 20-40 percent energy reduction, as well as 20-40 percent leakage reduction..."
