Since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, many governments and private organizations allocated large sums of money to fund projects dealing with various areas related to this virus. The vaccine is the most prominent area but detection, caring and monitoring of the patients revealed that the current medical equipment is not adequate and sufficient. Are these funding going to lead to invention or innovation? have you seen any report of innovation in medical technology in your community?

International Collaboration is the engine of global science provided it is not compromised under the pretext of national interest by major scientific power houses as we have witnessed in recent months.
This may happen, because COVID-19 greatly contributed to the acquisition of many technological skills that were not present in individuals, especially in the field of education, such as e-learning, e-evaluation, etc. So it is only natural that this be transferred to the medical field.
Health and care systems are having to adopt to this new world and suddenly, the old ways of working which relied largely on an analogue world and the bricks and mortar of the 'office visit' are starting to look more outdated and out of step with the environment they are working within.
There is an interesting parallel here. Human Coronavirus are a group of viruses that change small parts of their genetic code as part of their life cycle. Thus, they mutate as a matter of course. The challenge is for our health and care systems to also be able to “mutate” at pace and scale. We have never seen this happening before but happening it is, with digital transformation, the use of medical technological devices, the application of AI in the care of people becoming more commonplace.
This is also being accompanied by other significant changes, particularly around the deployment of a whole gamut of new devices and products including wearables which together with the dissemination of a 5G infrastructure and the very sudden increase in take up, are leading to a veritable explosion in the number of data points which are going to become available to different health and care systems globally.
Yes like in my country we have made our own sanitizer dispensers, PPE and ventilators owing to shortage of imports during this pandemic which is a roadmap to advanced technology in medical care without depending on developed countries

Mahmoud Moghavvemi they are actually helping to manage the pandemic particularly among the old who etiology is high. Our greatest challenge in developing countries is lack of intensified diagnosis to assess the extent of the pandemic though majority of the population as of now is till free or asymptomatic

Some developing countries lack resources for aggressive testing and some developed countries encourage selective testing or no testing so the result doesn't look bad!

As noted, the vaccine has been one of the primary elements of development with well over 100 candidates and 30 or so trials here in the US the last time I checked. I'm a long-time medical device developer and have been doing telemedicine since the 90's so I'll focus on the consequences associated with medical devices. We clearly have deficiencies in testing and getting reliable results quickly. This crisis will hopefully drive innovation there just as in vaccine development. However, in the areas of monitoring and tracking, I'd suggest that the needs are less driven by technical innovation as the capabilities have existed for some time. Rather the needs for innovation are much more driven by infrastructure changes, involving everything from reimbursement to FDA approvals and even changes in the method of delivering care. One thing it did here in the US was drive changes in regulations that did not promote the use of remote monitoring and telemedical applications. It remains to be seen how those changes will persist after the immediate crisis passes, but I would suggest that the innovation required extends well past the technology as technical limitations are not the gating item with regard to establishing well-structured tracking and monitoring projects for not just pandemic occurrences but for long-term chronic conditions as well.
