Reported risk factors for EP include tubal damage due to surgery or infection, smoking and in vitro fertilization, previous EP, tubal reconstructive surgery, tubal ligation, intrauterine device, (IUD), infertility, assisted reproductive technology (ART), genital infection, chlamydia and salpingitis. Smoking, history of abortion, being multi partner and previous cesarean delivery, are all considered as risk factors for EP in different studies. However, there is some controversy for some of these risk factors.
In a study by Atrash et al no relationship could be shown between induced abortion and EP. On the other hand, a study by Kendrick et al, found no relationship between previous cesarean delivery and EP. Regarding the seriousness of ectopic pregnancy and its role in infertility and maternal mortality, evaluation of its risk factors in different societies should be performed in order to find preventative solutions to reduce its occurrence. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the risk factors for ectopic pregnancy, also to compare risk factors between 2 age categories more and less than 20 years old (adult and adolescence) and between Iranian and Afghans.
We donot have any account of consanguinity and ectopic pregnancy in any study in india or elsewhere. If it is so somebody can point it out.On the other hand incompatability due to some heterozygosity with blood groups can be lessened due to inbreeding as happens incase of Rh factor.
Hi I agree with Srdjan Denic, there's no posible mechanism described that could make consanguinity to produce an ectopic preganancy, there are also no reports about this fact. If you have a high incidence of consanguinity in your community you can be the first to report this, in both cases as a risk factor or as no risk at all.
Hi I dont think there is a known association of the consanguinity of marriage with ectopic pregnancy in the literature also and i have not found such association in my Gynaecological practice also.
I am starting work to see association of consanguinity with ectopic pregnancy. Kindly look to my proforma attached and tell me for changes/adaptations (if any).
