I would like to know if every journal (especially those in the area of experimental psychology) has available the "co-first author" option. If not, how can I know which has it?
Dear Ana, I sometimes see a symbol in the author byline denoting two authors contributed equally but more in the neuroscience than the psychology literature. I suggested such a note to two psychologists discussing which of them would be second. One said, "I do not like these footnotes", so decided to become second author. What does the APA publication manual say?
I can't find anything in the APA publication manual, although I have an old version of this manual. I have found this information: "If authors played equal roles in the research and publication of their study, they may wish to note this in the second paragraph of the author note". Nonetheless, it is still unclear whether this is possible in every journal.
