I am doing a microbiome analysis in a large human population and would like to study consanguinity as a variable. Instead of simple comparing moms to siblings, or siblings to siblings and so on, I would like to implement a scale system that assigns a numerical value to each degree. I am thinking perhaps geneticists or epidemiologists use this?
