What I am looking for are studies related to parents' ACES leading to autism in their children via changes in DNA; i.e. DNA methylation.

However, I have not seen any study going from parent's ACES to children's autism. It might be there. I just have not seen it. Thanks.
That is a very clever idea. I am not aware of any empirical studies testing the hypothesis (which doesn't mean none exist - but neither PsycINFO nor PubMed seem to have anything). A pair of Japanese researchers (Udagawa and Hino of the Dhiga University of Medical Science) have proposed a similar hypothesis, though, so if you want to lead the way into this field of inquiry, you'd best get started ASAP! Like many good ideas, this one is a logical "next step" given what we already know, and that suggests that other people will be thinking along similar lines.

Because of the DNA methylation links, ACES => parent DNA methylation => child with autism, I am particularly interested in the intergenerational aspect; i.e. the adverse childhood experiences of the parents of children diagnosed with autism.

Looks like this is heating up quickly! Though I'm not sure how many of these very recent studies (if any) examined parental ACES (as opposed to experiences of the affected child)
Robyn, there are big problems with the ACEs literature ... and really the ACES instrument. Since this is a bit out of my area, I follow James Coyne who is known for ferreting out nonsense.

Given the increasing prevalence of the disease, it can be said that there is good evidence for the experiences of these children that could be a way to understand the causes and needs of each child for treatment.
