Commercial landings data for pink shrimp, Farfantepenaeus duorarum, in North Carolina suggest a dramatic decline in abundance since 2000. However, the data collection methodology during this period was dealer self-reports. Data collected before dealer reports that were implemented were obtained by port samplers. So, the decline in landings could be due to the different methodologies. Fishery-independent data would be useful to examine the topic further.
I have some data from Laguna Madre, Tamaulipas, Mexico of F. duorarum populations, and indeed is dramatically in decline due the bad regulation of the shrimp fisheries and some deseases. We collect the data with the fisheries cooperative stations (the fishermen sell their product here), but is not as much as the open sea data.
I can get some information about Veracruz and other places in Mexico, maybe it will work just to compare your information. If you're interested Dr. I'm at the disposition to help.
