in vb.net there is available sample codes. however, in vb6 im not sure.

to maintain the old software written in VB6 I would prefer to have WASAPI code for VB6 and then migrate to VB.NET only the core of the software.

what we now need is the simplest code just to have the audio read from the sound board read block by block and saved to disk.

something like

select the audio capture device

set the capture parameters (channels, sample rate, bits)

initialize buffers

loop read data block, save data block

close device 

One strategy that you may consider is Interop.     VB6 (COM) .NET

While this undoubtedly adds some complexity, you might consider that it will ultimately pay off since it anticipates migration, i.e., once written, the component (dll) can be called from either VB6 or .NET.
