Can antibodes to coronavirus causing common cold be protective to COVID-19?

Yes, it is speculated that the antibodies to Alpha-coronaviruses causing common cold may be cross protective to COVID-19, a disease caused by a beta-coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 (1).

However, because the coronaviruses causing common cold only cause a very transient antibodies, the duration and extent of such protection will be likely negligible and of very short duration (2)
