Drinking alkaline water is probably the safest work we can do to improve our health. There are very few side effects, which nothing serious. Compared to drugs that people take today to improve their health, alkaline water is incredibly effective and safe.
Alkaline water hydrate better than ordinary water. If your body is in a state of chronic dehydration, alkaline water will stimulate your thirst mechanism. The good news is that the thirst mechanism will return to normal when the body is properly hydrated.
When we begin to drink alkaline water, some people report that they need to eliminate more frequently. It's a good thing because it means that the body eliminates toxins. Alkaline water helps lubricate the colon and allows the kidneys to work more efficiently.
A well lubricated colon purge waste, which is good for your health. Alkaline water improves kidney function through a process called ion trapping which raises the pH of urine. This process gives more frequent desire to go to the toilet until the toxins are eliminated from the body. Normally, this cleaning process takes about a week until the body has reached a new healthy balance.
When you experience side effects of alkaline water, this is evidence of one thing: alkaline water works. When you drink alkaline water, it helps your body to purge waste. The side effects of alkaline water are mild and temporary. They generally do not last more than a week.
Once your body reaches a new healthy pH balance, the side effects of alkaline water disappear. It is then that you will enjoy the best effect of alkaline water, namely the abundance of healthy.
(1) Alkaline water is a somewhat controversial topic. Many health professionals argue against its use, saying there is not enough research to support the many health claims made by users and sellers. According to the Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/alkaline-water/faq-20058029), regular water is best for most people as there is no scientific evidence that fully verifies the claims made by alkaline water proponents.
(2) However, there are a few studies that suggest alkaline water might be helpful for certain conditions. For example, a study by Koufman and Johnston (2012) found that drinking alkaline water with a pH of 8.8 can help deactivate pepsin, which is the main enzyme that causes acid reflux. Another study by Wang (2001) suggested that drinking alkaline water may have benefits for people who suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
(3) Drinking natural alkaline water is generally considered safe, since it contains natural minerals. However, you should use caution with artificial alkaline water, which likely contains fewer minerals necessary for good health than its high pH would have you believe, and overuse may leave you deficient.

Thank you all. I also enrich myself with the information and explanations. With my perceptions, natural alkaline water will do better than artificial one as explained by Dr. Kundu.
