As a researcher in the field of gastric cancer, I was interested in anti-cancer effect of pantoprazole. Most of works published about anti-cancer effects of pantoprazole in gastric context include SGC-7901 cell line. It is while we are using AGS cell line as a gastric model. I wonder if there are any special reasons behind choosing SGC-7901 instead of AGS. and if AGS could be used to study anti-cancer effects of pantoprazole.
From what I can see many of the paper studying the anti-cancer effects of pantoprazole in gastric carcinoma cell lines are from China. The SGC-7901 cell line:

has been established in China and is used there much more than AGS. So that may be the simple explanation why it is used in that specific context.
