Ninhydrin is used for testing the primary, secondary, and tertiary amines of synthetic cationic polymer or protein. Is the copper II acetate test only meant for primary and secondary amines in the synthetic cationic polymer or protein?
I do not know that copper(II) acetate differentiates b/w primary and secondary amines.
To remind you, the Hinsberg test is what distinguishes b/w primary, secondary, and tertiary amines. It is done by treating an amine with benzenesulfonyl chloride in aqueous sodium hydroxide. The response of each type is different from the other.
