I am trying to prepare TiO2-Co doped nanoparticles thin films in order to study degradation of a dye. I will be using spin coating method to prepare the films. My question is if a binder is necessary for this process, as I have to study dye degradation too?

I don't think it's necessary, although it would be helpful if you explain the method of synthesis (even if it's just a very general description) so that we can get an idea of the procedure.

Normally we would use a binder with nanoparticles to make much better films via spin-coating techniques. However since you study the dye degradation, it may affect your results using a binder.
I would suggest to do parallel studies with a binder and without the same binder whether the results are consistent.
Rupak Patnaik, it is better to try to deposit film without binder and check the results. If those are not satisfactory, you may go with binder which can improve the adhesion between the substrate and the active layer but possibly can affect the activity. All the best with your research !!
