Suppose I have
solid 1 = poly crystal diamond
solid 2 = Iron
I put iron plate over diamond and anneal it at a temperature that facilitates diffusion.
Carbon will diffuse into iron
How will I calculate the etching rate?
- Do we need to calculate change in mass over period of time??
- Do we need see the etch depth over a period of time?
Once I get etch rate from experiment I guess I can calculate the rest from arhenius plot
(k = A * e^(-Ea/RT))
(Ea = -slope * R)
(A = y-intercept * e^(Ea/R)).
Can someone give me a reference in this regard?

Your question in its current shape does not contain any etching process, so you can't calculate an etching rate.
