IRAS process - design change advice needed, if I don't get enough participants?

I am in the process of completing an IRAS ethics form and plan to used mixed methods for my study. For correlation purposes I have stated I will aim for 30 participants for the quantitative data collection. If I recruit a lot less, I will have to change my design. Does anyone know if I would need to apply for an amendment to the IRAS form if I do have to change the design?

I'm just wondering if it is acceptable to note two options for design now in the IRAS form, or wait and see how many I can recruit and take it from there.

Any thoughts?
