Want to seek opinion from university academicians whether IT Mgmt research like using theories of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), TPB, TPA, UTAUT, Delone & McLean IS Success Model etc based on social science survey & quantitative statistical analysis are consider PhD IT or PhD Management / Business Admin research areas? Or subject to the discretion of each university's School of IT or Management / BA? Heard some universities' school of IT don't accept such research are under PhD IT in which they only consider more technical IT research area e.g. developing algorithms or software how to manage Software Defined Data Center, improve cloud computing performance, big data analytics etc.

These theories are widely used and there are many papers that have been published in top ranking journals which have used these technology acceptance theories. More specifically in answering your question it depends on the research foci of a school, a school of IT that is more technology and mathematically orientated probably would not actively support such research so it really depends on philosophical beliefs of the school in terms of research paradigms. Happy to discuss with you further, Interestingly I have a paper recently accepted that uses Technology Acceptance Model to evaluate University Staff acceptance and use of iPads/tablets
