I want to do a dynamic analysis of a building in plaxis. I have questions as follows;
1. Which soil model to use?Mohr-coulomb or hardening soil model?or HsSmall?
2-a. I can enter the earthquake data by using a prescribed displacement but at the phases stage how do you go about the steps before running analysis?
2-b.The boundaries are confusing for me to understand, like free field,tied degrees of boundary and so on.....?
3. The results? Apart from the displacement what else should we account for?
Anyone with a worked example will be appreciated.
The answer for your questions as follow; 1. Mohr - Coulomb model can be used for clay in undrained condition or hardening soil model for loose sand.
2. In phase analysis phase 1 - gravity analysis, phase - 2 - installation of foundation, phase - 3 - construction of building and phase - 4 is application of prescribed displacement.
3. numerical analysis can be performed by forced based or displacement based approaches.
4. In general, three displacements, six stresses and strains can be obtained from the analysis.
