Including the vertical electrial fields measurement in Magnetotelluric Method?

Is it meaningful to explore the effects of adding the vertical electrial field in the Magnetotelluric Method? Has anyone done some numerical simulation or inversion? It may have certain significance for long-term deep monitoring or improving the resolution of crustal structure. If there are related works, what kind of electrode is used to measure the electric field in a deep well?
