After obtaining the 2D model from the MT data we want to check the stability/robustness of the features. This cross checking is important because inversion of the geophysical data suffers from the problem of non-uniqueness.
Dear Peush; I think the robustness of the estimated model may be checked by synthetic test, checkerboard test and critical examination of the parameter effects. These are only minimal requirements to check the robustness of the model, not sufficient requirements.
Dear A.P. Singh, you canot do checkerboard tests on frequency domain magnetotelluric data - different physics and different approach to inversion. Dear Peush Chaudhary, your ability to perform sensitivity analysis depends on the inversion program you're using. Most programs do sensitivity and resolution analysis for you and return the results - you may need to adjust some necessary parameters when running the program. You just need to select an appropriate inversion program and study its manual to find out what to do. Best wishes...
Dear Sir, thanks for reply. I am using the WinGLink software which contains the code of Rodi and Mackie (2001) .To check the sensitivity/robustness of the model there is no discussion about choosing the lower and upper limit of the resistivity range. Since changing the values, also change the sensitivity model accordingly. Is there any thumb rule for choosing the upper and lower limit value and how these values can be correlated physically in terms of model robustness/data penetration?
