As you know one of the most helpful techniques in analyzing corrosion inhibitor's in laboratory experiments is to conduct FTIR or ATR-FTIR on the sample taken from the surface of the working electrode or directly on the surface of the working electrode.

The main purpose of FTIR analysis is to make sure of the formation of the Metal ion-Inhibitor's molecule complex which is able to form a thin film on the surface of the metal and protect the substrate against corrosive media.

So, let's get to the point i want to discuss :

What is your opinion if i get samples from the test solution and conduct FTIR analysis on the samples and compare FTIR spectrograms in the blank and different concentrations of the inhibitor ?

Because when the corrosion rate decreases the amount of free Fe2+ decreases in the solution which jresults in the less formation of inhibitor molecule+Fe2+ and it would be obvious on the related functional groups in FTIR spectrograms.

I'd like to discuss in detail from corrosion, electrochemistry and chemistry points of view,

Please get involve in this topic
