I would like to convert a published metabolite content in rice leaves from mg/g FW to mg/g DW, I would like to know if there is a general conversion factor for this.
The general conversion factor to convert metabolite content from mg/g DW (Dry Weight) to mg/g FW (Fresh Weight) typically ranges from 0.1 to 0.3, depending on the water content of the sample. To perform the conversion, you need to know the percentage of moisture in the rice leaf sample. Then use the following formula:
the exact conversion factor depends on your specific samples, and it's essential to determine the moisture content experimentally for accurate results.
Dear Lassaad Hedhili thank you for providing the formula, so I need to find a general value for rice leave's moisture content. That helped me a lot. I have another question, are you aware of any reference or roughly a range for the weight of rice leaf per cm2? I have found the respective value in Arabidopsis but I have not found relevant information for rice.
Dear Shanker Lal Shrivastava thank you for your response, the papers I used to extract metabolic content, reported these values were not mentioning moisture content for example: Article Transcriptome Analysis of the Responses of Rice Leaves to Ch...
so I need to find some general values for the moisture content.
Dear Fatemeh Gharahdaghigharahtappeh, thanks for providing references, I will take a look at them.
