In his original paper on the subject (1905) E = mC^2 Einstein claimed that m is mass defect upon fission of Radium Salts. Later on, other authors started claim that m is the full mass of arbitarary Chemistry.
The paper attached considers this contradiction.

Science after all is an endeavor to search for truth and your work is on that merit of purpose. We had similar discussions in another thread regarding the equation which existed in variant forms before Einstein. I think Einstein took the blessing of science and thereby society to give that formula to him and media helped to create that fixations on it.

When momentum is zero in a reference frame the requested from is obtained.

In special relativity light speed is constant, but in general relativity Einstein required light speed to vary with gravity. Peter Bergmann and others claimed the direction could change in gravity field but not the speed. Max Born and Richard Tolman agreed with Einstein that the speed of light changes in a gravity field.
