Article In Vitro Antibacterial Properties of Copper Nanoparticles as...

It is time to reconsider the long-term benefits of Copper's Antibacterial properties for endodontic uses in preventing periapical infections.

The old ZOE based sealers were already widely proven effectives, new formulations* with added copper salts have been introduced since more than a decade ( * Doc's Best PCS, Cooley&Cooley - Temrex) but unfortunately still not evaluated in clinical researches, so far instead largely misregarded, probably because lack of funding for expensive RCT and moreover because commonly rated as kind of unattractive old material without marketing added value.

From my own clinical endo-retreatement cases, started more than 10 years ago, I could observe excellent results & high rate of healing even in the most challenging situations.

It would be great to find some motivated researchers ready to investigate in-vivo, the opportunities offered by those availables materials and eventually improuve the anti-biofilms synergistic metal-ions mode of action knowledge, for future best-tailored therapies.

I would be delighted to share some cases, more informations or further discuss the topic if requested.

Best regards

Nicola
