I am trying to standardize commercial tissue culture protocols for different conventional genotypes of India. In the process of experimentation, recorded very high phenol exudation from immature or very young suckers as explants than matured suckers as explants. Can anyone explain why young tissues are secreting more phenols than old tissues when all the other experimental conditions similar in my in vitro experiments.
