in general they give the same information, but at room temperature the anti-Stokes signal is typically too weak due to the Boltzmann distribution
There are some examples for which the anti-Stokes Raman signal can give additional information to the Stokes ( see for example Radial Breathing Modes of carbon nanotubes), but in general, at room temperature, the Stokes signal is much stronger, as Johannes says. The ratio of the anti-Stokes to Stokes can be used as a measure of temperature!
In "everyday" situations and temperatures, molecules are usually occupied by lower states, thus interacting photons will excite them and down shift to Stokes photons... As the experts noted, higher temperatures can introduce different results.
