In the discussion of qualitative content analysis, different writer spoke the different steps in their books. If I use different writers' different steps in my paper depending on the type of work I do, will that be considered correct?
Could you be more specific about the what it is that your are trying to combine? Most analytic processes have a degree of internal integrity, but some are more flexible than others. The main problem would be if you tried to modify one of the less flexible methods (e.g., Grounded Theory) in ways that would raise objections from reviewers.
Different writers WILL have somewhat different steps. If one fits your need, use it and do not feel that you need to incorporate the other processes.
If you want to combine steps from more than one process, I think that you can, but be sure to include your rationale for why some steps from one and other steps from the other make sense for your specific study.
It will depend on you that how you will apply the content analysis. In my Ph.D research , I made a combination of different steps which have been described in the various writers' books. Because that's what my research method was demanding. It has not been possible to put qualitative content analysis method in my research work in any specific mold. As a result, I had to go through in that mixed way. And of course I took the opinion of experts.
