I am doing my analysis using JMP 11. The predictor variables are relative gene transcription rates and the response variables are phytochemicals or ratios of phytochemicals.
Can you elaborate? I have also done ANOVA on the qPCR data, but this is not what is the problem. I am trying to build predictive models with PLS using the qPCR data as predictors and measured phytochemicals as the response. Most of the time, the PLS procedure is able to find factors and build a model, but sometimes the minimum PRESS score (i.e. the 'best' model) occurs with zero factors. In other words, any number of factors that the PLS procedure finds does not reduce the PRESS beyond what it was without any factors. I am trying to interpret what this result means.
