I am doing an EIS measurent of gold electrodes in PBS buffer solution. When I treat the gold electrode (proteins attached) with the analyte, the Rp(Rct) values decreases and the CPE(Cdl) increases. Does this make sense? I understand that the decrease in Rp(Rct)means that the eloectrode surface is more conducting but how do we relate this to increase in CPE(Cdl) values?

Can someone please help me to understand this phenomenon better?

Thanks
