In CV analysis, do I need to minus the background current (without analyte addition) when calculating the linearity of calibration curves (R2=0.99) ? I know there are some papers who did not minus the background current. However, to fit into the Randles Sevick equation, without minusing the background current, the linear curve won't pass through 0. What is the reason for not minusing the background current?Thank you!
It is better to subtract the background curve. but you can add it if want to show the background noise
Linearity has nothing to do with background current. The linearity is given by equation of line y =mx+c. When background is not subtracted it does not pass through zero. The linearity is given by the slope m. If m is constant it is linear. So it is your own choice whether it is subtracted or not. But in your measurement if it matters it is advisable to subtract.
