Why you let others know about your insights and methodologies before publication?You may say that I am somewhat old-fashioned, but I have a different perspective for uploading any preprint anywhere before it has been published by your name. So, my advice is to not put your research anywhere until it is published.

• Your manuscript may be copied and then published by others before you can do that. This stealing of your paper might be happening. You must wait until the paper is accepted and then published by that journal. Then, upload that research item on any platform you wish.
• You should avoid telling the other researchers about the details of anyone of your papers until it has been published and seeing your name by yourself.
• A journal may have automated plagiarism software to check the paper before admitting it to the reviewing process. There are chances that your paper can get a rejection at any point. Thus, to avoid this problem. Publish the preprint after you got ACCEPTED.

Yes this issue requires rethinking on the part of RG. Considering the existing system it is wise to upload the published version only (if copyright permits) and not the preprint. Removal of preprint leads to loss of reads, followers and recommendations.

You have seen only one side of the problem. The reader like me can not afford any money for getting any such original paper (Costs at least 30 Dollars/paper). But at least we can come to know the study performed by the author. Abstract can be found in the journal site.

It may be the case that I have to upload such pre-prints of articles in near future to share some idea among RG members.

It is a good topic for discussion.

A paper is uploaded in RG with full details. The availability of the PDF of the paper depends on the will of the RG members and copyright issues.

Some publishers allow to upload pre-print versions and not the final one.

I pointed out only those situations where publishers do not mind uploading both pre-print version and the final one. In such cases there should be some mechanism by which the RG member can upload the final one by removing the pre-print version. Then only his reads, etc. will remain as such.

You still have to upload the paper.

Thank you for your comments. Regarding the availability of the final versions of papers with publisher constraints to publicly upload, the readers always have the option to request private full texts. Therefore, I do not see a real problem in that issue.
