As the images displays offshore region of sea, it may not be fresh water input? what else is the possibility? can anyone tell me what does light blue color signify in offshore waters?
Depending upon the sensor and the wavelength resolution light blue generally indicates highly reflective medium in optically clear waters, in other words, particle scattering in blue waters. Highly scattering phytoplankton such as coccolithophorids or other calcareous species will resemble light blue swirls in the ocean. A shallow white sand bottom will look like a light blue halo around a coast line. The shape of the feature will provide an indication of either a benthic scatterer vs a planktonic scatterer.
@Mahmoud Mohamed Shendi : Probably Band combination may be standard FCC (432) - NIR - Red color, R - Green And G - Blue. I do not have information about satellite sensor.
@Mahmoud Mohamed Shendi and @Collin Roesler :
1. If it all it is representing phytoplankton, then reflectance must be high in NIR compared to red band, then plankton must appear in shades of Red color. How come blue color represent plankton?
2. Does current driven fresh water input in offshore sea region represent light blue in color?
If any reference material is available to answer this question?
@Mahmoud Mohamed Shendi and @Collin Roesler: Thank you very much for your answers.
Maybe you can download the original data with all channels. Then you could plot the spectra of the blue region. This would make it easier for the interpretation.
