I am conducting a research to explore the factors affecting the adoption intention of farmers towards the Climate smart agriculture practices. To collect the sample, I have listed down the villages where government intervention is there under different programs to make the farmers aware about climate smart agriculture technologies.
If from the listed villages (selected purposively), i collect the data from the farmers based on intercept method (as complete list of farmers is not available). Will it be a correct approach?
Yes, the Intercept method will suffice. However will your intercept method be qualitative (interview) or quantitative (questionnaire)? If qualitative, then it will be better suited because this method is more geared towards purposive sampling. In addition, your reasoning/justification will be because there is evidence of government awareness interventions in these areas. Therefore the method will suffice.
If you choose to go quantitative, then you will have to pay more attention to sample size. I personally would opt for qualitative intercept method for purposive sampling.

I am using a research schedule for collecting the responses and i am aiming to collect data of around 700-800 farmers of Punjab state. Will it be enough to support my results?
Try using Cochran's Formula for population and sampling if you don't have an idea how many is the population. Or a Sample size calculator. Just set the population to 50% and your desired confidence level to come up with an effective number of respondents.

I do think 700-800 farmers will suffice. The sample size is usually dependent on the population size and what confidence level/intervals you choose (eg. Confidence Level of 95% and Confidence Interval of 5). Hence use the following calculator to guide you.

However, you did mention you are doing purposive sampling, so then the sample size can vary, but make sure your reasoning and justification is provided clearly.

In continuation of confirming the idea of Dr. (Sachin Suknunan), unfortunately, most of the interviewees have little (incomplete) information, but the interviewer must know the value of qualitative information and manage the information based on qualitative sampling. In the end, the more sample farmers, the better the result.

Yes, it is obvious that purposive sampling is good such identified target groups. Because the climate smart agriculture is already applied in the area.
