Food, Water, and COVID-19

Properly washed raw vegetables and fruit or any freshly cooked food has not been shown to transmit SARS-CoV-2 and is not a cause of COVID-19. Similarly boiled or treated water has not been shown to transmit COVID-19.

However, eating out in hotels and restaurants need all the preventive measures not because of the food, but due to potential of transmission though droplet infection and fomites.

Scientific evidence shows that food and water don't transmit coronavirus unless there is a droplet from an infected person. Well! This might be a relief for those who eat their food in isolated places or at their home. My worry is how it could be easy to control the transmission of the disease through interpersonal communication in this overpopulated world and when the majority uses hotels, restaurants o,r other public places to get their food on daily basis. On top of that, most people are not aware of the precautions to protect themselves from the virus as we observing in many developing countries. Many countries have already failed to provide the necessary materials for the protection of the virus.

Yes, true. It is easy to control, if the food or drinkable can is infected so it can transmit the virus from body to body.

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. In general, because of the poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely a very low risk of spread from food products or packaging. The virus that causes COVID-19 hasn't been detected in drinking water. Water treatment facilities have processes to filter and disinfect water before it goes into your home. Consider wearing a mask while grocery shopping, when it can be difficult to maintain social distance from other shoppers. In some areas or at certain stores, wearing a mask may be required. By following social distancing and your local public health guidelines, such as staying at home when you can and wearing a face mask when you must go out, you help to lower your risk of infection. You also help protect other members of your community.

The fole of food and water in transmission of SARS-cov2 needs further evaluation.

Till date there is no any scientific evidence to prove that COVID-19 spreads through food or water.

Indeed, further study is needed to understand why the virus is spreading in such high speed. But we should remember that the control measures are either not been applied or being inappropriately used/followed.
