If EF3/4 hands of KChIP is already bound to calcium how can they still be high affinity calcium sensors?

KChIPs belong to the NCS group of proteins and binds to calcium ions using their EF hands. Out of the 4 EF hands EF3 and EF4 are known as high affinity calcium sensors. However, my question is if calcium is already bound to them can they still act as high affinity calcium sensors and if so how?

Good question as I understand it.

What I understad as you formulate the question is how half filled protein (half filled with calcium) can still have the empty sites having high affinity for calcium. If this is not the question I have not understood it.

I am lately interested in calcium sensors and then I wish you get answers from scientists with or experience.

But if I did not understand it well, please give more data just for me to understand. Thanks.
