I did a leaching experiment to recover Lithium and Cobalt from wasted LIBs.
I need help in two parts I do not know what to do next.
(Element composition test) I dissolved 10 grams of my raw material (LiCoO2) in 200 ml aqua regia, then I dilluted it 1/100 in a volumetric flask. All this to find the element composition of my raw material (LiCoO2).
(Sample 1) I leached 1 gram of LiCoO2 in a mixtured of 3 grams acetic acid, 0.7 grams ascorbic acid, and 100 ml DI water. Then I dilluted the leachate solution in 1/100 volumetric flask.
Both solution I ran them in ICP-MS, I got the results but I do not know which data to use to calculate the element composition, and the leaching efficiency % of Li and Co of my sample 1.
Please I need all the possible help!
Can somebody explain to me how to calculate these things, and which value I need to use from the ICP-MS data.

To calculate the leaching efficiency of Li and Co from your sample, you need to know the concentration of Li and Co in your raw material (LiCoO2) and the concentration of Li and Co in your leachate solution.
For the first part, you have already determined the element composition of your raw material (LiCoO2) by dissolving 10 grams of it in 200 ml aqua regia, diluting it 1/100 in a volumetric flask, and running it in ICP-MS. The results should give you the concentration of Li and Co in your raw material .
For the second part, you leached 1 gram of LiCoO2 in a mixture of 3 grams acetic acid, 0.7 grams ascorbic acid, and 100 ml DI water. Then you diluted the leachate solution in a 1/100 volumetric flask and ran it in ICP-MS. The results should give you the concentration of Li and Co in your leachate solution .
Once you have both concentrations, you can calculate the leaching efficiency of Li and Co using the following formula:
Leaching efficiency (%) = (Concentration of Li or Co in leachate / Concentration of Li or Co in raw material) x 100
Please note that this formula assumes that all of the Li and Co in your raw material were successfully extracted into your leachate solution. If this is not the case, then your actual leaching efficiency will be lower.

In the beginning you have mentioned that you recovered Li and Co from wasted LIBS sample. What is wasted LIBS?
Normally LIBS is an analytical technique whose full form is Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy. This technique is used for checking whether the sample is present in elemental form.
What I mean you refer to your sample as wasted LIBS which is something else.
In such case whatever explanation is given by Dr Gawad seems to be more appropriate. That means you measure the concentration of Li and Co content in raw material before leaching and the same after leaching by acetic acid treatment as you have mentioned in 2nd part. From this leaching efficiency can be determined.
