I am working on drought stress tolerance selection, in tomato plant.. I have measured the proline content in leaves in response to drought stress according to Bates et al., 1973. Results showed that sensitive landraces accumulated more proline the tolerant ones in responses to drought stress.
Could you please helping me whether my results are correct or scientifically wrong ??

The accumulation of proline as a result of abiotic stress is due to a lack of protein formation or the dissolution of protein leads to an increase in the accumulation of ammonium, so the plant tends to form proline to get rid of the toxic effect of high ammonium concentration and store amino acids for the need as well as adjust the osmosis.
