In every research, we perform experiments in replicates either duplicates or triplicates or more as well. In case we do not do experiment in replicates, we won't be having the standard deviations (SD) and error bars in the figure graphs. In such a senario if we submit to a journal for possible publication what can we expect from the reviewers and editors? Is it always necessary that we do experiments in replicates as a measure of reliability or its just a research trend?
Niranjan - what a journal expects from you is that you report the tests, values and measures that are at least 'standard' related to your reported methodology and methods. 'Very good' research can only be considered so if it presents the required parameters.
Researcher should have a good understanding about what question(s) he or she is going to address in the target study. It is important to design your experiment/research well before initiating the practical work. For example, before starting a survey, you should know the research objectives, how to gather relevant data to address your objectives, what kind of questions you should have to ask to collect those data, and how to analyse collected data in a way to answer your research questions or objectives. So, this last step leads you to decide what kind of tests, measures, parameters you have to conduct or represent. If your approach is appropriate (and standard) to reflect/interpret results to address the research objectives, there won't be an issue from reviwer's side.
