I am using HPLC to know the concentration of SMX antiobitics and now peak area shows 0. that's why i am confusing there is no antibiotics in the sample solution or not. So wanna know the limit HPLC can read. Thanks in advance.
There is no general answer to your question. The limit of detection (LOD) depends on your analyte and your HPLC conditions. Have you analyzed a standard prior to your samples to assure that everything is fine with your method? You should run a calibration with a standard first. From the resulting calibration curve you can estimate the LOD.
I agree with the Fabian Schumacher point, the limit of detection (LOD) depends on your analyte and your HPLC conditions. you should run a calibration with a standard first.
The limit of detection depends on the analytical method and the instrument conditions. First, you have to set the analytical method of your analyte. And then you should do AMV(Analytical method validation) with your HPLC. You could find the detection limit at certain concentration which shows signal to noise ratio is about 3.
