I need to detect the concentration of Li in the ZnO:Li films, but neither in my institution nor in whole country there are no any methods available, that can detect it. Iwould like to ask if someone with access to any technics that can measure Li concentration may assist with that? We can send the sample from our institution by post. If there is a cost, maybe we could reimburse from our funds. Please let me know any available and possible options. Thanks.
Hi, Arsen, in addition to previous answer...I think you can run the Li- analysis using XRF or EDS-SEM or AAS or ICP but destructive method.
Li K X-rays are too soft for normal SEM-EDS analysis. The trouble with XPS is that it is a surface technique, not easy to quantify in thin film applications. For XANES you need access to the right beam line of a synchrotron light source ... NRA (nuclear reaction analysis) is clearly the easiest option, and well established for Li analysis. You could ask Mohamad Roumie in Beirut, he can certainly do this for you. Or you could ask Michael Kokkoris in Athens, he has measured the Li cross-sections so knows the reaction intimately.
Our group work with lithium - intercalated materials. Our experiense show that optimal technique for determination of Li concentration in solid is Mass Spectroscopy. But it is not very sensitive technique, if in your case concentration of Li similar with semiconductors, this technique will not be appropriate.
Sometimes we use Atomic Absorbtion Spectroscopy, this technique very sensetive but not very accurate in determination of Li concentration.
The problem with Li in XPS is the very low cross section of the Li1s line. I can do the measurement for you if you like with monochromatized XPS for better signal to noise ratio compared to MgKa XPS.
