Hello everybody, nice to talk to all of you. I am trying to identify a specific target in cancer therapy to get ride of the side effects of the unspecific chemotherapy. I hope my research is going to help in therapy in cancer! All the best to all of you!
Welcome Dr Chowhan. My expertise is in experimental oncology and carcinogenesis. I also have an interest in mechanism of resistance to chemotherapeutic agents that target DHFR and TYMS. Coincidentally my interests are similar to Nicole Forsters ie skin and breast cancer. The poster behind me in my avatar was given at the last St Gallen symposium on early breast cancer. I am struggling to finish the manuscript which outlines a potential mechanism for breast carcinogenesis ( and perhaps other types of cancer) as a result of TYMS dysregulation acting as a molecular switch that both opens the door to tumorigenesis and als drives disease progression. Maybe you would be kind enough to have a look at the MS once finished and give me your comments. In the meantime welcome to the group.
I am also interested in any writing which is medical related. I do not want to get ahead of Mehvish saleem Shah (she answered first), but if you are interested in my help, send me an message or an email ( [email protected] ) so we can talk more and i can send you my CV.
So far i have worked in clinical biochemistry and diabetology research with a general interest in molecular biology, but i started being interested in oncology at the moment. This is due to the fact that i will be working on a ovarian tumor internet portal in the future (hopefully).
Thanks for your good wishes Nicole. I'm almost there. My challenge is that there is so much published on breast cancer these days that I keep revising my model to try to accommodate new findings. I need to just accept the fact that it wil never be completely up-to-date and send it in.
@ Barry. Yes, that is good observation you are making, I totally agree and I also think you will not be able to know everything which is published about breast cancer. Make a line as soon as possible and send it out, you will see what the reviewers will ask. You can not guess everything what they might know about. Good luck! I am open to read it before you are sending it if you want me to.
may i ask you- is there any advanced and effective diagnostic test for cervical cancer after smear test with good predictive value that has reached clinics or if it is still in the trials
heard about Cobas test - for diagnosing Cervical cancer. I read about this in a news article. people claim that its more accurate than Smear test and is very cost effetive
