I used Boolean (Subtract) operation to convert multiple bodies and parts into 1part, 1body. But after this conversion, the volume and surface area become zero. Please suggest, how to solve this problem?
Have you figure out to make all parts into one solid body in other cad software (.STEP)? Then you can import to your ANSYS.
The same way if u want to make a 3d stl model on 3d printing machine.
That problem is always happen.
Solid is broken.
In my case, catia file import to patran(FE process).
Catia using higher order equation.
So, Solid is sometimes broken to surface.
You shoud edit your geometry model, surface broken from original solid.
Use geomery edit menu, redraw all curve and surface that have some problem.
Then select all surface closed one,
make B-rep solid. B-rep means boundary represented solid.
You will experience Same problem, If you woud continued numerical analysis by inter package to other package.
Hi,
To solve your problem you should follow these steps.
1) Save a copy of Solidworks file in (.step) file (see file attached).
2) Import the geometry file (.step) in Ansys workbench and edit geometry in SpaceClaim.
3) In SpaceClaim click on toolbar Design and then use comand icon Combine (see file attached).
I am sure you will be able to solve your problem following steps as above.
