In my studies, between half and one kg non-starchy vegetables per day prevented slight depressed bood glucose events in overweight patients before the subsequent meal significantly more than no vegetable intake. I consideereed potato as energy dense food, although less dense than cereals.

Green has the right answer. Each country (those who use it) has own serving sizes, which are defined by the food and nutrition board or other competent bodies. People's eating behavior, food preferences, national nutrition policy are taken into account to decide the serving size. Its not just a simple figure.
