Are you using a freshwater species of Nannochloropsis? (I guess so, because I would expect that Chlorella doesn't cause problems in a saltwater medium.)
If this is the case, my short answer is: no chance. I would start fresh cultures with a large inoculum size and keep them going as long as possible. Then start again from scratch. My guess is that, in freshwater, not many species beat Chlorella in the long term.
I am more than happy to be convinced otherwise, though!
