The colonies I suspected to be Micromonospora and Actinoplanes didn't have exact filamentous morphology under microscopy. One of them appeared oval cells. How do non streptomycetes actinomycetes appear under microscope. I am finding it difficult to differentiate between mucoid colonies of actinomycetes and other bacteria. Please help.

Members of these genera (Micromonospora and Actinoplanes) usually grow as yellow or orange colonies that after a few day produces a dark "mucilage".
Actinomycetes usually produces spores which are easily detected on SCA agar plates. Other species do not produce these spore but you can identified them by their strong adherence in the medium plates (sometimes the colonies are only removed with some part of the medium)...
However, it is very difficult to detect mucoid colonies with you are not familiarized with their morphology... Indeed, even experts can be mistaken...
In this way, I suggest that you isolate them and amplify the 16S rRNA gene sequence using specific-primers for actinomycetes such as the S-C-Act-0235-a-S-20 and S-C-Act-0878-a-A-19 (see ref. below)...
