Try to enrich your sample. Dissolve 5gm of your extract in minimum volume of methanol and allow it to evaporate to get 2 ml of solution. Add 5 ml of water and 5 ml of ethylacetate. transfer the mixture to separating funnel and shake well and take the ethyl ecetate layer. Repeat the process for three to four times until you get colorless ethylacetate layer. The lower part i.e. ethyl acetate layer is the enriched sample. It will consist of phenolic compounds.
Possibilities of getting salt impurities on isolation of phytochemicals is very common. On solvent fractionation, addition of organic solvent to aqueous extract or its purified form will crystallize salts which can be easily filtered and separated.
